GreenGuard Certification 101

Forevermark Cabinetry makes affordable and durable cabinetry. The company uses quality wood and reliable hardware. It offers both DIY sets and professional, made to order cabinetry. One of the most important aspects of Forevermark Cabinetry’s products is that they feature GreenGuard Gold certification.

GreenGuard certification is a certificate of quality issued by the prominent GreenGuard Environmental Insitute (GEI). There are three certification programs for products and one for buildings.

GEI experts have established that the air inside the house is 200-500 percent more polluted than the air outside, mostly due to poor ventilation, airborne chemicals found in the furniture, and mold. To help solve the problem, GEI came up with a program that tests products for numerous pollutants and dangerous chemicals.

Only products that pass the test with excellent results can get the GreenGuard certification. To qualify for certification, products have to be tested against 10,000+ VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Even though participation in the program is voluntary, a growing number of companies are getting certified.

Three Popular Cabinet Design Trends for 2020

Operating out of Edison, New Jersey, Forevermark Cabinetry manufactures affordable and distinctive wooden cabinets that undergo stringent testing by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA). Forevermark Cabinetry produces a range of cabinets that have been featured in numerous television shows and settings.

Cabinetry design trends are constantly evolving. Below are three of the most popular cabinet designs in 2020.

1. Open shelving kitchens. This style of cabinetry is commonly chosen by consumers who desire to save space and by those who have small kitchens. Most popular in farmhouse and industrial style kitchens, open shelving is often used in today’s modern kitchens to display kitchen items and raw materials in a decorative manner.

2. Slab door cabinets. Incredibly sleek and modern, these cabinets typically don’t have any hardware attached to them and instead incorporate features like glossy finishes and frameless or flat fronts that flow nearly seamlessly into one another. This trend, inspired by Swedish designers, is popular in tighter spaces and is an ideal way to modernize a kitchen.

3. Transitional cabinets. This design style combines elements of both old and new cabinetry. For example, modern hardware mounted on traditional cabinets serves as a transitional cabinetry style. Transitional style cabinetry also refers to kitchens that incorporate both traditional open frame cabinets with modern shaker cabinets to maintain a traditional look that doesn’t appear dated.
